What is alfatradiol?
Medication that temporarily slows hair loss due to baldness and sometimes causes some regrowth.
It's also known as 17α-estradiol or Pantostin.
What does alfatradiol do?
- Head hair
Reduces hair loss
How long does alfatradiol last?
Alfatradiol only causes an effect while it is still being applied.
What should I be aware of?
There are only a small number of studies of the effects of alfatradiol on hair loss, and there is no clear conclusion on whether it is effective 1, p.221.
In the UK, the more proven options of minoxidil and finasteride are used instead.
How much will it cost?
Alfatradiol treatment is not funded by the NHS.
